1st Place! PDN - 2012 Top Knots - New School of Wedding Photography!

We are both so excited to be chosen as 1st Place winners of the PDN - Top Knots New School of Wedding Photography! We submitted photos from Anna & Anthony's wedding in Dordogne Valley, France, of the lovely couple Anna and Anthony getting ready for their ceremony.  Here's the blog post we did last summer (worth a re-read!)

 We were shocked when we received the notification that we had won.  In fact, we didn't even know what place we had won (2nd, 5th, 88th) until the magazine came in the mail.  To say we were floored we won first is an understatement.  Go grab the May issue of PDN!  You can find it at most stores like Barnes and Noble.

TEP 12 - Southern Utah Photography Workshops

True Emotion Photography Workshop 12 here in Southern Utah was a blast.  Class was sold out! & we had fun students, perfect weather & a lovely location out in Ivins.  Not to mention our models were pretty awesome.  Here are just a few pics from the Workshop, many more to come.  Not sure when TEP 13 will be, most likely in the fall.

Photography Workshops & Classes in Southern Utah with Kevin

True Emotion Photography 12 Workshop is here!

The oh so popular & sexy TEP workshop is back with our 12th class!  We're getting right into the details of a full shoot.  Lighting, posing, background, technique, etc.

And we're not sitting in a classroom taking notes, we're shooting awesome models at the perfect time of year in beautiful Southern Utah.

Basically we'll be hanging out for an evening going over everything I do at a photoshoot from start to finish.  Everything.  And this is your opportunity to photograph some stellar models & get instant feedback while you shoot.

I love spending time with and helping fellow artists expand their knowledge.  My technique to teaching is pretty simple, teach what I know.  And I love to do it.  So if you're thinking about a hands on workshop that'll with also be a good time.  This is it...

WPPI 2012: Exciting New Opportunities!

So this is long overdue, but since the incredible event that was WPPI we have been a bit overwhelmed with work and creative ideas!  But here is the recap:

1. Speaking: Going into this year's WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) was very exciting since we were going to have our first speaking opportunity at the Miller's Professional Imaging booth.  While we knew we could handle it, we were pretty freaking nervous.  But it went great!

Part of speaking for Millers was doing a video for them that will be on their website.  We had a blast stumbling around in front of the camera, trying to appear as cool as possible!

2. Creative Shoot: Kevin set up a creative shoot on the strip one of the nights we were down there and took some incredibly lovely photos of gorgeous models Madison and Jasmine.

3. New Friends!:  We had an amazing time hanging out at the Miller's party with some pretty bad ass photographers we greatly admire including Damon Tucci, JB Sallee, Jill Helenga, and Jaime Shultz.  Later that night, the fabulous Andrew Gawdun and I somehow ended up in the room of Jesh De Rox, of Beloved Photography, where we heard a private concert.  Pretty cool.  Pretty cool.

4. Our Work on Display: Millers and Lumiquest had some of our albums and products on display this year, which we loved!  It was so fun seeing some of our albums and designs shared with the public!

From WPPI this year, we were able to take away new ideas to make our business stronger and our relationships with our clients better.  It's the event of the year for us as photographers, and we HIGHLY recommend it to any new photogs out there!

Hello all, just a short and sweet Blog update to let you know what we've been up to.  Just returned from a wedding last weekend at the Dreams Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico, that was amazing.  The bride and groom were a blast and the resort was just perfect.

Here's a little video Katie took of me with her IPhone.  I of course got asked to take a random photo of some other resortgoers.  I'm like a magnet for people who want pics of themselves.  You should see it, everywhere we go, hey, can you take our photo?  I usually go into detail about how this is my first time and all of that.  I think it's hilarious.  I'm usually the only one though.

Also  Lumiquest, a lighting company we're sponsored by, has moved our ad to the front of their website, and get this...they're blowing it up poster size for WPPI!  What?  That should be interesting to see.

We're finialists for a PDN (photo mag) best wedding photos contest.  So I think that means we'll be in the May issue.  They're not really clear on that.  But it did say congratulations, now hand over the rights to your photos.  So I'm assuming....

I was interviewed for the Las Vegas Photography Magazine for the Southern Utah Photography Guild.  You should read it, I sound very articulate.

We're doing a membership photoshoot for the Southern Utah Photography Guild tomorrow that I'm organizing.  I have models and a location as of now.  Should be fun!

What else... Wedding Saturday in Missouri at Lodge of the 4 Seasons.  Oh and Mizzou plays Kansas tomorrow so that's a pretty big deal.
